B Present – A Race of 100 Metres Doesn’t Finish at the 97th Metre!

I remember hearing Wayne Bennett talk about “a race of 100 metres doesn’t finish at the 97th metre!”

I remember hearing Wayne Bennett talk about “a race of 100 metres doesn’t finish at the 97th metre!”

He was lamenting those people who had done well and then as they approached the finish line, they took their foot off the pedal instead of finishing as strongly as they could.

Well, here we are – the end of November. It’s getting hotter, the kids are nearly finished another school year, they’re tired, and the focus is starting to shift to Christmas holidays.

But there is still a month to go!

If you want to keep productivity high right to the end of the year the answer is to “chunk it down”.

Set very specific daily tasks with defined outcomes.

While “spoon feeding” activities is not an ideal leadership style, it is just what some staff need to make those last few weeks of the year as productive as possible.

Make a plan for EVERY DAY.

Have a ‘huddle’ every morning.

Set the agenda and keep that foot down right to the 100th metre!
